  • i think this is called "flail chest"

when u have a brocken ribs ... the breathing is paradoxal

which means : when u breath in, part of the chest goes out and the other goes in .

normally it will go out (spread) on both sides.

  • Yes, it is indeed called a Flail chest. Its a sign of unstable fractures of the ribs or/and Huge Bilateral pneumohaemothoracies. He should be intubated!! RSI! Its a failure of care shown here. If you intubate, your giving the maximum amount of oxygen, with the minimum oxygen demand. This will help his body to cope with his lung being punctured.

  • @xJenBabesx it is done for educational purposes only son other peple can observe what happens in real cases...and also the patient's face is not shown so they are not violating his confindentiality

  • @daniel2407 the neck collar is properly placed as u see the chin place on it and the rear part is different it won't fit in the front area, "it is properly placed".

The patient will be definetely intubated but don't agree with the use of the Venti mask, at least he has to be on Bipap if doesn't have a face lesion or broken bones to decrease the work of breathing and support the flail chest with PEEP wich also helps to keep that part of the lung not collapsed to its restinf volume.
