You see it every day in the gym. Everyone hitting the big movements; bench, squat, deadlifts, press, calve raises, etc
You also hear the same things, I cant bench anymore, my shoulder kills, or Squats wrecked my (insert muscle/joint here)!
Now you can be powerful, you can be explosive but can you be in it for the long haul? The key to training and athletic preparation is longevity. But few are willing to do what it takes if they don't get that immediate satisfaction.
They love doing bench press because is blows their chest up. They love doing curls because it pumps up the biceps. But few consistently incorporate the maintenance and rehab exercises that are important for their long term health.

@smittydiesel thanks smittydiesel...what is the difference between minis and monsters minis and the normal length bands. Also, I have seen Timbahwolf doing shoulder disclocations with a thick purple band.........would this be any good or can I do the same thing with the minis?
Also, the bands in the video seem pretty long....are they minis? I am really sorry if this message is too long to put on ur video page, you can PM me in reply that would be REALLY appreciated.

Definitely try to keep it as one movement. Flow from the retraction into the external rotation. The retraction prior to the movement is essential for opening up that subacromial space.

I definitely like the looks of this movement, so thanks for sharing it. I have one question......while this is a combination of several movements, is it best to view it as discrete steps?
as a compound movement, I was under the impression that retracting first to "set" the scapulae would intefere with scapulohumeral rhythm. But then again, viewing it as a retraction + external rotation as opposed to a row variant makes the separate steps seem rather sensible.

Great job as always Smitty. I have a question on this exercise.
I get a horrible cracking sound (feels like bone on bone) when I get to around 45 degrees from vertical (moving into the external rotation). My ROM is shy of 90 at the top of the pull. I was thinking tight pecs but loosening them up made little difference. I'd appreciate any ideas that might help.

First thing I would do bro is go get checked out by your doctor. I would also say that working on your upper back mobility, hitting the foam roller, some push-up pluses, retractions, rows might help.
Go to the doc first to see what he clears you to do.
