@tcurrsdmaster If it was dropped in the 1800's and was not disturbed than it may still have the flow marks from the coin stamp. Rubbing out those flow marks can cost you 100,000$. That is why he only was touching the edges. Depending on the year and condition he may have a quarter of a million dollar coin.... you only touch the edges on them...

you guys who think this is only worth $10 are complete idiots! Gold has a value of $1350/oz and this is atleast one ounce so this guy is not $1350 richer. 10 dollars is just its face value, its buying power.
