An in-depth demo of Laney's great sounding Lionheart L5T - 112 class A tube amp.

After comparing the audio quality of this Youtube vid {In 720p HD} to the original file on my PC, it is quite clear that Youtube's compression techniques take away some of the audio quality.

I hope you still get a good idea of how the amp sounds... The character is still there for the most part... But you really need to go play one in a shop to hear how great this amp sounds as these vids don't do it justice - no matter how much effort went into getting the sound right.

Split into 4 parts:

Part 1 - Demo of the clean channel

Part 2 - Drive channel

Part 3 - Sound clips of both channels without backing track

Part 4 - A closer look around the amp

I've just improvised over the backing track so you'll have to excuse some sloppy playing! It's a demo of the amp not me!!!

  • What a nice amp!! really wanna get one!!

Whats your backing track pls? any link to dl it pls?

    Thanks a lot!

  • @Speackoolm Thanks Speackoolm! It's an amazing amp for sure... gets better with age as well! :) I used a back track from my collection but can't remember what it was called. Not sure if it can be downloaded from anywhere but if I can find the name i'll have a look.

  • GREAT playing man. I'm almost skeptical that's somebody on Youtube.. if that's really your playing you should be signed. Great great chops amigo!!!

On the demo, I'm a little bummed. I have this amp (and their 20 watt head and 2x12 cab and was hoping you would show some of the amp settings. Oh well.. next time throw a mirror back behind the amp angled forward so we can see the settings you were using. Anyway, love the Lionheart amps and love your guitar playing. EXCELLENT CHOPS!!

  • @3dsman Cheers 3dsman!!! It really is me playing I can assure you but i'll admit... I edit all the bad bits out! :) I've been meaning to do a follow up demo for a while but haven't had time. The next demo will literally just be me plugge into the amp and i'll be running through all the controls. really hard to fit everything into a demo and keep it to a reasonable length (see my PRS Demo, lol!). Have you seen the 50 watt version and the 4x12 cab? Looks amazing but expensive!

  • @MikeGarveyBlues Imitation.. the sincerest form of flattery! Brit's probably think things are cooler that come from the US, we're wired in the reverse. If it came from the original home of US blues appreciation (white americans of the day didn't 'get it' but guys like Clapton, Richards, and Jagger sure as hell did).. aka the UK, we think it's cool. Would love to have a AC30 for example. ;-) Search for fool4yer and my bandmate just posted a bunch of vid's, much better than the old stuff

  • @3dsman It's a great looking amp isn't it?!?! Makes a change from the black tolex a lot use. There's a new vox amp out that looks amazingly similar... Put the Laney bade on it and you'd swear it was a Lionheart!

  • @3dsman Fender Twin my bandmate plays. I do have an old 1970's 50W Fender Bassman silverface I could bring to bear if necessary (and that thing is unholy loud), but the idea behind the 5W was to promote quieter rehearsals for these old ears of mine. Keep on Rockin!

  • @MikeGarveyBlues Hi Mike, I was foolish to make that comment without first checking out your other vid's. Yep, you know how to graze that twine and make it whine! ;-) Watched your vid's on the wah pedal, the PRS, and one other too (stayed up too late, now don't remember the last one). ;-( Anyway, really great playing! You've got some serious talent. On the 50 watt Lionheart, same as you, the price scared me off. So far the 20 watt is working out by it's still no contest to the....

  • @3dsman I still have the 5 watt-er and it gets lots of use at home for practice. Both the 5 watt and the 20 watt have identical control panels and both let you jack up the drive channel while dialing back the master volume to give you Hendrix/Vaughan/Gilmour soaring overdrive at volumes that everyone in the band will appreciate. Oh, and you've got to see the blue tolex in person... it is a thing of beauty! Cheers and sorry for the rant.

  • @3dsman and part due to our other gtr player having a fender twin reverb (gawd those can get loud). If your idea of 'small club' is like one corner of a sports bar it might be OK but I really don't recommend it. I LOVE this amp, it's got tones sweeter than honey but if you're gigging you won't regret getting the 2x12 cab and pair it with the 20 watt head they sell. I bought the 20 watt setup from Laney and use it for gigs and rehearsals now and it's killer. One more 'to be continued'
