While we don't experience many blizzards in Alabama, the ones we have had are usually accompanied by thunder snow and lightning. The March '93 storm that pretty much covered everybody east of the Mississippi River, had plenty of it.

It depends on where you are in the world, its not common in the Uk for example but there have been some reports of it on occasions. Saw a programme last night on the weather the world has and Thunder Snow was one of the topics, since Cumulonimbus clouds can produce heavy snows in wintertime as much as they can produce heavy downpour in the summretime it is likely that they may be the odd lightning bolt now and then, but it is a rare thing indeed.

It is really rare, considering that warm air is required for it to happen.

I guess that this is possible since thunder and lightening can occur in a rainstorm and technically, a snowstorm is a rainstorm on ice.
