Between the Lines explores the choice that most draft age surfers faced during the Vietnam War era: either go to war or evade the draft. It was one or the other. Between the Lines delves into the lives of two surfers who choose opposite paths, Pat Farley and Brant Page.

Pat Farley, a heavy combat vet, volunteered for service in Vietnam and was discharged with a full psychiatric pension. Conversely, Brant Page evaded the draft and fled to the surf rich Hawaiian Islands where he was unceasingly pursued and eventually arrested by the FBI.

While following the lives of these two surfers the film chronicles the impact of the Vietnam War on the surfing lifestyle. From GI's surfing in enemy territory, to the anti-war movement at home, to the living aftermath of the war, Between the Lines excavates the surfing cultures response to an extraordinary circumstance.

  • When I received my draft notice in 1968, I burned it and immediately went to England. There was no way that I was going to fight in Vietnam. I have never regretted my actions.

what a good US citizen you are....yeah....lets all just SHUT UP.

  • @chronocentric67 You need to understand it from the perspective of someone who was there fighting in it before passing judgement.

  • @trauma151 And Hot Water Music of course.

  • @FLICKPatriotism Both are heros in their own respective way, and that't the whole point of the movie.

  • @twhee6 The song is "Between The LInes", same as the movie title. Chuck Ragan is the performer. You have heard of the band Hot Water Music that he fronts right?

  • @FLICKPatriotism

Lol and I guarantee you wouldn't even get a chance to pick up your weapon. Because this country has fucked enemies up for 250 years.

  • @twhee6 Its called Between the lines by Chuck Ragan. Check out his other stuff also, Hes very good.

  • @schwul1956

    Good man.

The only reason the government has the ability to kill on a whim is because dim witted people are willing to don the uniform and follow illegal orders.

I'd rather fight against this country than for it.

The fact the jaskass is dead negates the "pussy" description. After all, he lived.

The real heroes of Vietnam were the draft evaders. I hope they bring it back, so I can use my families wealth to bribe somebody and get out of it.

Then I'd laugh my ass off and send cards to random APO boxes.

  • @Halo4Lyf Hey that's what Cheney said!
