  • I love how Orson Welles kisses her hand at the very end -- one great talent acknowledging another!

  • Ms. Garson is wearing Mame's original "Republican Clothes" outfit designed by Travis Banton for the original 1956 Broadway production of Auntie Mame.

In Act Two, Scene 10 Mame wears this when she hosts her big party for Patrick and Gloria with the Upson's, Babcock, Pegeen, Vera, Agness Gooch and all Mame's other friends.

I love the 1958 film, but I still think Mr. Banton's work in the original Broadway production was light years ahead of Orry Kelly's outfits in the 1958 movie version.

  • Her face really is phenomenal for a 54 y.o.

  • @calalilygirl I know. I hope my skin looks that good at 34!

  • @MGMArsGratiaArtis Her face really is phenemenal for a 54 year old.

  • @funkeekatt Uh, she was definitely in costume for a play, homeboy.

  • @ABALLAM3 So different! But I guess that's what almost fifteen years and some stage make-up will do. ;)

  • @soulierinvestments She actually wasn't Irish - that was a rumor perpetrated by either her or MGM (not sure which). Either way, she worked that rumor all the way to the bank.

  • @eron1963 Haha, pretty sure that is not her own ensemble ... pretty sure it's a costume from Auntie Mame. I remember seeing Roz Russell in something similar in the movie.

  • @calalilygirl She was a redhead so she was forced to avoid the sun. If you ever see any of her Technicolor work, you will see how porcelain her skin is. Paid off in the long run!
