What you fail to realize is that in 2005 we reached world peak oil production, and we will never reach that level again. The world needs to find 4 million barrels of new reserves everyday in order to replace the 4 million barrels lost to depletion everyday. Thats the part no one ever talks about. They tell you about all the new reserves that are discovered, but they never tell you about the field thats fifty years old and running dry. Biofuels cannot and will not save us.

That factoid is based on an old, outmoded study, done by people with a vested interest against oil substitutes. A real engineer wouldn't use the extremely unfavorable choices the writers of that study used. Plenty of choices at each step, and they used the least favorable ways, and framed it in an unrealistic and unfavorable way.

Doesn't it take more oil to plant, fertilize, cultivate, and harvest the corn that the amount of fuel the corn produces? So why would you produce any corn for fuel? You're going backwards

Oil is a depleted resource, no rush to deplete cheap to those hate producers.

Of course OPEC doesn't want to increase production.
1)They get more $ per barrel thereby increasing their overall standard of living.
2)OPEC uses petroleum as their primary bargaining tool with the West.
3)Oil is their only viable export & they are in no rush to deplete their finite quantities of oil because they know once the wells dry up, they will revert back to 3rd world status with no help from the Western powers.
