  • Nice playing, but please wear shoes in the future. I don't think bare feet are appropriate for jazz piano. Maybe for singer/songwriter stuff, but I think jazz was meant to be performed with sensible shoes. I think once you fix that, you've nailed it.

  • @edrummist I wear only the finest invisible shoes!

  • Nice job! However, making your phrases "singable", i.e. adding spaces as if for taking a breath, would make it more natural. Keep going!

  • Thanks for the advice. It's been a while since this video, though--I should make new ones. ;)

  • You are a very talented musician my friend. I only hope to achieve your level of talent some day.

Good luck, keep practicing and I expect to see you go somewhere.

  • Thank you so much for the kind comments on my videos! They mean a lot to me. I just love music so much, and there are so many talented musicians in all genres of music--it really is a privilege to participate in music making.

  • Are you a bill evans fan I'm sure I heard some influence in your playing at the start of the tune, anyhow well done and good luck to you.

  • I used to play the piano alot barefoot.. But the pressure from the pedal pushed just right on that joint that connects my big toe to my foot and man did that start to hurt. I was screwing up that joint.. I actualy was starting to limp when I walked. So I had to wear shoes for a long time to make my foot feel better.. No joke..

  • @edrummist I was referring to your behaviour.

  • @Criticalperspective2 Yes, I am glad you have come around to seeing this issue clearly. Why is IcarusJazz so stubborn that he refuses to wear shoes when he plays jazz? It is clearly a question that demands an answer.

  • @edrummist stuborness I call this

  • @Criticalperspective2 Regardless, I stand by my feet.

  • @edrummist I don't see how that affects music. Keith Jarrett used to sleep under his piano when he was a kid.
