  • @Willish Sherlock doesn't have a go at Irene Adler for taking her clothes off. There may be another time he does that. But if your referring to the moment that I think you are, this happens. Sherlock asks how the hiker died, Irene says that she doesn't understand, Sherloch says:

"Try to. You cater to the whims of the pathetic and take you clothes off to make an impression; now stop boring me and think"

That sounds more like a compliment. He thinks she's clever enough to figure it out, herself.

  • @jungsbodyguard See in my mind that is still a small dig at her. Like he does somewhat insult her there and is basically saying, "Your career choice & nudity are not impressing me, show me the intellect you're working with" I mean it isnt a massive insult, in fact it is practically a compliment by Sherlock standards as you say. He knows she is smart and he admires that so he wishes she would stop fooling around & just play the game.

  • @Willish But I think that how she knew coming into the room naked would catch him off-guard (he's not used to that), impressed him. Plus the fact that it made it was so much harder to read her; showed when he looks at Watson and can read him easily, he looks at the naked woman and he comes up with "????".

I thought that he was impressed with how, by appearing naked, she'd out-witted him. Which is why he calls her "moderately clever". High praise when it's coming from Sherlock Holmes!

  • @jungsbodyguard Oh she is most certainly clever! I think you're right, he is far more impressed by her than he is annoyed or disgusted about her career. Sherlock doesn't compliment lightly! I am now hoping in Season 3 we get Violet Hunter and have another leading lady who works with Sherlock. It is always fun to tweak the dynamics a bit.

  • I hope the finale of Sherlock wasn't too much ...

  • @1488bill Nope! Not unless you mean if it was too much awesome, then yes, yes it was. :D

  • @AleisterSir ..or much better said, he maybe is, but don't think for one second he's one of them ;)

  • @Willish ..But I think the thing is that he is NOT annoyed or disgusted about her career at all. In fact, the intelectual challenge, and just the intelectual challenge, the matter Sherlock is interested in. He hardly grasps the "ethics", or the "moral nature" of a crime. In fact, to be honest, he enjoys it because it´s an opportunity to devolope his intellectual skills. And anyway, as we know now from the last episode, he's not in the side of the angels ;) Sorry for my bad english.
