I love the video on how anyone can afford dental work with some awesome tips you have. That's true that many American's can't afford dental work. Im stil waiting on my biopsy on my gums which is $500 which I can't afford right now. I will be on a paymen't plan to help pay for that. Im saving money on it right now so I can get that done. I like your tip on saving little money each week as a backup, and eventually it will grow each month. I got to keep that in mind. Thanks for posting.

@knit44 Yes you would definitely be surprised at how much you can rack up here and there. Like, for instance- you need $500. If you could save $100 a month, or, $25 a week, you would have it in 5 months. I like to break savings up weekly. So for instance, if you spend $100 on groceries weekly, all you need to do is find ways to buy cheaper brands and save up that extra $25 every week- like paying yourself. I am a BIG coffee drinker and cannot tell the difference between Maxwell House and

@knit44 Walmart brand coffee. Also, cases of coke cost like 5 and some change, whereas the supermarket brand is like 2 and some change, or something like that. If you buy bottled water, start distilling your own water and using a reusable bottle. If you spend $60 in gas weekly- try cutting back by about $10 and limiting travel by doing all of your errands on the same day, buying groceries for the week to limit your back and forth trips, etc. Little things will add up and make it easier on you.

I was forced myself to stand out in the sweltering heat for 43 hours, 91 degrees, at the RAM in southwest Va. It was hell, I won't lie, but in two days time, they helped over 4,000 people who are low income/no insurance. I had 23 teeth pulled by UVA dental students. I then took 300.00 to a denture place, and my mom paid the rest. 595.00 total for economy. I went 10 years with horrible teeth, and now I have a beautiful new smile. Where there's a will there's a way. It was worth it.

I actually plan on selling my other car (one that I fully own) to get my dentures I'm planning on. I don't want to do it whatsoever but my health is more important. I'm at the point where I can't wait anymore and have to do SOMETHING. My job finally provided insurance and my boss cut all our hours so we couldn't qualify.

i'm going to the university of illinois' dental clinic...the price is much less then the oral surgeons i called first. it's a teaching college. if you're near a university call and see if they have a dental program.

In most states, they have at least a couple of med schools that includes the school of denistry. You can contact them, and they will send out an application that ask for the amount of income and the amount you pay for rent and utilities....ect., and they work on a sliding scale as well. You can usually get some pretty amazing work done for a little of nothing, and if you're really low income, you can get it done for free. The down side is that you may end up waiting up to 6 months.
