@Pop12646Okami No moorish idols don't require large tanks. Full grown they only reach 9 inches which is the same as a yellow tang. I have one in my 150 gallon and he is verry happy, grazing on the rocks all day. If you can get them to eat they are just fine in captivity.

ummmmmm sushi ?

@nemo220901 Actually, I think that's a longfin banner fish. But moorish idol need a LOT more than 200. They're very difficult to keep in captivity, unless you have a very, very large aquarium. So most aquarists say it's best to keep them where they survive the best: in the ocean :) I don't even think I've ever seen an idol in a home aquarium before.

@DRoseNYC i put a filter songe in my overflow box. so no fish can ever make it to the sump. try that, it can prevent it from happening.

Why bother getting a 90 gallo? You might as well just get a 100 gallon :) ....unless you didn't have room... THEN I would understand why
Keep in mind I have about 30 gallons of water in a sump underneath this tank.

i wouldn't put an eel or a trigger in anything less than a 45 or 50 gallon tank, they will outgrow it way too fast. the chance of the eel jumping will also be way higher.

I agree, even on a 90 you need some kind of cover. My eel goes over my overflow wall all the time and sometimes inside the piping and turns up in my filter sock down in my sump.

nice fish. how big of a tank do you need for just a baby snowflake eel? would a 30 gallon be fine or would i need a bigger tank?

Volume of water-wise I would say you could get away with a 30 gallon, prob need a bigger tank once it gets full grown. Only thing is the eel might feel contained and try to constanly jump from the tank...my eel tries jumping from my 90

Im thinking of getting a Dwarf Lionfish and a baby niger triggerfish in a two foot tank, for about a year then im upgrading to a 4 or 5 foot tank bear in mind that the trigger is only like 1.5 inches and the lionfish is the same could they live together comfortably like that for a year or untill they get to big? oh and if they do get to big to fast i have a friend that has a huge tank and he said he would be happy for me to let them live in his tank for a few months untill i by the new tank

by a 2 ft tank do you mean a 20 gallon long? or a 30 gallon high? If you have the tank already you could put the fish in there for a few months until you set up the big tank, but I wouldnt waste my money buying a small tank, you'll need ot upgrade in like 4 months. the Niger Triggers grow fast. I find if you spend the money and do it right the first time you save money in the end
