Float or Slack is the amount of time an activity can be delayed without affecting the early start date of the next activity. Activities without float cannot be delayed, where as activities with float, even when delayed need not affect the project end date. Understanding of this concept alone will empower the project managers further. Knowledge of this helps project managers to focus on those activities with zero float, and if there is a delay in them can pull out resources from those activities with float and deploy them in those activities without float. This gives better control on resource allocation
