The first trombone doesn't have his slide in the right place on the long notes or the high notes for that matter. Everyone else sounds pretty much in tune with each other.

Well, definetely one thing you guys need to work on is your chops. 1st Trombone, you need to really nail your part since it's mostly you. Anyway, I'd rate it an excellent division II ensemble. Best of luck.

Why doesn't the whole ensemble follow suit? If a jazz band only had 25% of its members playing swing style, it would not sound good. Agreed with the other comments: study the swing style.
