The Maxpedition sitka is a perfect pack for day hikes. Is has a place for a water bladder, pouch for a 32 ounce water bottle, pockets for a compass, gps, topo maps, rain poncho.

  • !!!??? how do you have cell sevice in the woods?.... must not be deep wilderness?

  • I just don't see the practical advantage a one-strap-over-the-shoulder pack versus a backpack. The backpack with two shoulder straps will always be better for hiking because it distributes the weight. This pack might be suited for a long distance runner or someone who has no time to stop, someone who would need to swing the pack around front while in motion. Otherwise it's simply a fashion appeal and/or statement. Maybe if I had cash to burn I'd buy this pack just for fun, maybe take a run.

  • @greenback001 I'm not sure I would use this bag over a standard double shoulder pack for things like hiking. I'm actually thinking about getting one of these gear slingers from maxpedition for an EDC bag or a bug-out-bag. Some people may prefer to have a pack they dont have to take off to access everything really nicely. I actually think its a really neat design. Again, I would not use this pack for backpacking but I do believe it would have its purposes. philosophy of use :)

  • @greenback001 You would see practical advantage if you commute on public transportation. A bulky back pack is troublesome. A single strap can be swing around to accommodate available space or to sit. wearing a back pack with a single strap on work the same, just a little less comfortable i guess. I try a slingpack, from a other brand, and i prefer a regular shoulder bag for that purpose. Maybe a slingpack work better when skating or riding bicycle as it look more stable then a shoulder bag.

  • Nice bag to tote your MRE lunch to school...

  • @j62584 I dont remember he claim to be in deep wilderness. Can you point the time index please?

  • its good to see you taking your son out to the woods. people sometimes dont understand how important it is for youngsters to get out there. bravo! good review aswell 5/5

  • cool shorts... in the wild...bugs and snakes...smart.

  • I have the Sitka and love it. It holds weight well and I love the one strap because it is easy to get to everything. Great review, keep up the good work.....

  • @MrHazyDayz You did make a really good point about quick access to your gun. But I did sort of point that out by saying this pack might be good for someone "on the run." My main point was basically about weight distribution, and for that, a backpack rules.

  • @greenback001 i think it is really helpful to be able to grab stuff out of my sitka without taking it off... also good luck getting your backpack off and rummaging through it for your CCW pistol if you are being attacked, with a sitka you can be running for cover and drawing your weapon at the same time. an unlikely situation for sure, but JIC :-)

  • the reason i dont like gearslingers look how the strap sits high up on to the guys neck/trap.the only one that works for some reason for me is the Remora

    thanks for the review guys
