Rachel is fortunate to have come through her upbringing so well. Having just finished the book, I was often not certain which parent was crazier. Nice to see she appears to be intelligent, thoughtful, coherent, and has a sense of humor to boot. If Mark Bazer is an English professor, I am doubly disappointed by his continual "like" misusage. Oh, and Susan Sontag (though way cool) is dead.

thank you for your book rachel! i've never known life with such fear until i married and had 3 childrn, it was frightenig to be around. reading stories like yours strenhtens my convictions to leave and nt look back. i felt your mum's frustrations in 'keeping it together' but ultimatly undertsand why you would never want to talk to your father again. your father needs to write you a letter of apology. i will buy more copies of your book from my local suburban suburb in australia and pass iton
