"Where the Roads Come Together" is a magnificent song and is one of the best (many would say THE best) Up With People songs ever written or recorded. It has very deep meaning for many Up With People alumni, including myself, and speaks about how we connect with people, and, for whatever reason, are separated, and then at sometime in the future, reconnect. (And those reconnections can lead to the strongest friendships of our lifetime.) The words were written by Paul Colwell, and the music was written by Herb Allen and Paul Colwell. The song was the closing number for many of the Up With People shows in the 1970s, and was re-recorded, with a modern interpretation, in the late 1990s and was performed in the Up With People show again. "Where the Roads Come Together" is one the most meaningful, powerful, and beautiful songs I have ever heard. And is one of my all-time favorites. It is an honor to share it with you.

I love you all,

Kevin Caruso

  • This was my class song in High School (Mayfield, OH 1978). Haven't heard it in years. It brings back some great memories. I still know all the words! Thanks for the post.

What about "Joan of Arc"? Isn't that an UWP song? "'Open up the door and let me inside. I've come to see the King!' the young girl cried."

  • @JohnAJay That is awesome, John. "Where the Roads Come Together" is a wonderful song that brings back great memories for me too. And yes, "The Ballad of Joan of Arc" is also an Up With People song! Thank you for the nice comment, my friend.

  • Thanks for this Kevin. Always loved this song.

  • @jimmytnguy I am very sorry for your loss. “Where the Roads Come Together” is a magnificent song that has deep meaning for many people, including me. I am glad that you had a chance to perform it with your college choir. God bless you, my friend. And all the best to you and your family.

  • Thank you for this. My choir in college did this song. That same year we lost a friend to suicide. It was very sad. But this song sheds light and, to me, is a beacon of sorts. Truly, thank you for posting this wonderful arrangement/recording. All the best to you.

  • @brucevideobrain It is a beautiful song, Bruce, and deeply meaningful. Thank you for the comment, my friend!
