I recently revisited Coventry. I lived at 361 Green Lane, Finham from 1962 to 1966. I spent my formative years living here. Coventry is a special, mystical place for me. A lot has changed in 42+ years and I used my digital camera to make a short film as I walked up and down Green Lane on 10th April 2008. I have interlaced that film with some old cine footage my Father took. My modern day film is no match for my Father's work. The shops don't seem to have the same degree of character they once had and the post box, which looks like the original had lost the oval, metal sign which used to sit atop. Some of the larger trees have gone. In fact I remember workmen cutting down the large tree opposite our house in 1965. Well that's progress I guess. Coventry was after all a Boom Town! I have a lot of affection for Coventry, which some of you might find strange, but it's where my true roots lie. I recently logged on to an Astrology site and gave my precise birth-time details and one thing that came out loud and clear was I am deeply attached to the past, such as familiar places! The music is a rare bootleg of Astronomy Domine by the Pink Floyd.
Fabulous bootleg of Astronomy Domine by the Pink Floyd ! Unbelievable!

Used to live in Gretna Rd and walk down Green Lane to school at Finham Juniors!
Have you zoomed in on this area with Google Earth? Fascinating. We never explored any of the fields on the far side of Green Lane though. Did you? Are there any public footpaths? From the aerial photos you can find what look like two huge bomb craters in those fields - no idea why as kids we never went walking over there. Do post more video of Coventry if you get time. Thanks for these memories! Where's the phonebox

Absolutely loved this film. One to treasure, and nice to see the post box wasn't always leaning!
