I'm not sure at all :P. It would be a very big blow if a republican would win being Obama's former seat and all.. Heck maybe they should just let the lt Governor do the appointing. As said republicans would never grant the same courtesy so fuck em.

Just run someone who is squeaky clean? And holding elections might help a bit with image as well. And of course it's the right thing to do. Also republicans just don't have the credibility to run against corruption. So it will be a campaign on normal issues. Which should mean the republican loses in a landslide in Illinois.

You are INCORRECT in your citation of "the rules." Governor Blagojevich is solely responsible for appointing Obama's replacement unless he's impeached or resigns. Neither of those two things have happened yet.

And he wanted to close prisons in IL, for no apparent reason. For one Pontiac...several criminals in which is already overcrowded. Tear a Prison, build a prison. Contracts, Contracts, Contracts. He never cared about state workers, never was at the capitol when a mobb of 400 AFSCME Union officers protested there, he was in Hollywood! Also he managed to fire 40 state Il National Guard security officers for a multi million dollar private security contract.
