This play occurred in a 2010 Patterson versus Urbana playoff high school football game. Patterson is in white and Urbana in dark blue. A pass was attempted by Patterson and the referee called the play a catch and fumble. I say it was a blown call and clearly just an incomplete pass.
An Urbana supporter who claimed to have been on the track near the play saw it as a fumble and stated in a sports forum that the fumble wasn't even a close call. He further stated that he saw the play on film four times and that the receiver caught the ball, made three steps, made a cut, and was "drilled" which caused the fumble.
Here is the play. What do you see? Fumble or Incomplete Pass? How about the steps, cut, and being drilled that caused the fumble?
Incomplete didnt have possesion for 3 seconds

catch the ball and the refs don't have to make a bad call.

I'd say he never had control of the ball.
But...in those games, refs are the replay booths.
