I worked with a person who had CP that rendered him mute, so he used sign to communicate, but beecause he was home schooled by his foster mother, a lot of it was fingerspelling. This video is of special interest to me, but I cannot follow a lot of what you are saying due to my own shortcomings with ASL. Would you mind adding caption?

Wouldnt the dr be aware of the way the patient is moving his/her body. ? That is a good question I have been thinking about related ti disablities and the way we voice things. If a person has a downs syndrome { which sometimes has a lisp or speech impediment attached } should we voice differently than someone the same age without DS?

@Baachoo143 Hi! Yeah..seems like the medical staff would see and incorporate that into care, however, there is a range of mild to more severe. If the person is on the mild to mod level and isn't moving around during the exam, just sitting on the edge of exam table, then it is possible for musculoskeletal (sp?) issues to be overlooked...I think medical staff needs training to be aware of not relying on speech when treating D/HH/DB patients regarding CP, DS or other similar disorders.

@Baachoo143 cont.... I don't think the interpreter can say anything...and I don't think changing your voicing is appropriate. Thanks for adding your insights to discussion! always appreciate that!!! SH
