Our mailman told us about this skunk, so we went out to rescue it. I snuck up on it and confidently grabbed the jar. I lifted, i wiggled, i actually had to pull the whole skunk right off the ground, but with the skunk's front paws pushing on the rim of the jar, his head finally popped out.

He didn't spray me, and he wandered off, bumping into stuff and being pretty cute. For a skunk.

  • Sorry, but if I see a skunk with a cup stuck on its head, that skunk isn't going to make it. Unless I can get Animal Control to hurry up to that location, so they can remove the cup from its head, and also remove the skunk from the neighborhood. That way everyone's happy. :)

  • bullshit.

  • If you this is very easy to help, just take a blanket (or if you dont have, take big plastic) and drop it over the animal, then hold the neck, u have to be in front the head, put just the head out of the blanket and take off the can, after, and fast take the blanket and move, the animal is going to be 1) disoriented, 2) if they dont see you the dont spray. HELP is easy.

  • i've seen that before (at 530 in the morning) it happened to a baby skunk though

  • how did you do it

  • I've seen a few of these stories now, and I've yet to hear of a rescuer getting sprayed. I think the animals are too blinded by the light and confused to even think about spraying for a good few seconds - time enough to get away.

So please take note, anyone who finds a skunk trapped like this and wants to help... please have a go. It's an act of kindness, and the chances are you'll come up smelling of roses :)

  • This seems to be a common problem for skunks. I have seen something simular to this on america's funnest home videos, where a skunk had a wendy's box stuck on is head.

  • aww that poor baby. Apparently he was either curious or hungry and ended up getting his head stuck.

  • actually if you see a skunk in the daylight..it might mean that it isn't well. Be really careful...I have heard this over and over again..you are NOT supposed to see them in daylight hours!!!

  • thats a BIG skunk lolol
