A two hour video of the sunrise on the Tooth of Time compressed into two minutes. The video was shot in either July or August of 2003 by myself and my friend Chris Pope when we part of the activities staff at the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch.
I still have a victory pic of myself on the summit. Me and my tentmate threw a yam off the top that we won from burro racing in Harlan XD We hiked in 3 hrs later and went straight to the St James Hotel where we each ate a 1/2 lb bison burger... with ice water, of course
622 a-2. We talked all trip about going to watch the sunrise. I will never forget that night. My tentmate thought he heard a bear and he had Gatorade packets in his pocket. We never went back to sleep and eventually after watching the sunrise which was awesome decided that it was the wind. But after getting back to base camp that same day, a crew from our troop but not our same trek passed through our campsite and showed us a picture of a bear which was sniffing around right where our tent was
@icerocks23 Okay, like all those commenting I went to the Tooth, and I have to say you and your crew have some brass ones handing down between your legs, there was only a small section that I would have considered for a long term sleep, and there was no way to pitch a tent up there, so glad you guys didn't get rained there with your starry ceiling.
730-J1 I woke up at 0400 to be able to watch the sunrise at the tooth of time camp. It was the most amazing experience to see that sun rise over the plains. Theres a small hill at the campsite and on the top of the hill there's a formation of rocks which make what looks like a throne. I spent my morning in that chair eating turkey sticks and cereal bars
710-C!!!! Philmont 2009 - We woke up at 2:30 to get to the Tooth... Took a wrong turn to Shaefer's and had to get our bearings for a few minutes.... Made it in time (but had to run the last mile and a half with 40 pound packs - then dropped them at the base)...
