A philosophy that many black men live by. I DO understand where many brothers are coming from, as you have to worry about yourself BEFORE you can worry about someone else. However, in the case of many black men, it turns from looking out for number one, to absolute SELFISHNESS.

They have turned that shit into a culture. People rapping it in songs, people teaching it to their children, etc. I think the selfishness comes from being jilted by other people too many times and not giving people the benefit of the doubt because of their own personal hang ups. You kinda can tell who is open to a helpmg hand and who is on some other shit if you polish your poeple reading skills.

Good words, but really most human beings are selfish snakes. Look at OJ. When he got caught up, look what happened: he crawled on hands & knees back to the black community that he spurned for support.

But Once OJ got out of his jam, he went right back to hanging with white people & being a selfish asshole. But 1 of his white buddies set him up & now he's potentially spending the rest of his life behind bars anyways.

Why won't brothas learn? Don't trust white men.

niggas tellin you that you need a girl, and behind the scenes, they do all the necessary hating, and propoganda, so noone likes to just kick back and laugh at you, or some female talkin about, "he can do for hisself" as if i can print my own money, go down to the river and make my own bowls out of clay and fish my own dinner, when have black men ever said themselves that they can do for themself and don't need women, for women to be talking like this.

Definitely cosigning this one. I've felt this way since middle school, and it only continues to get stronger as I age. I've been brainwashed into it, that's just how i'm wired now, unfortunately....

@EyeShinez I don't have a telivision example because this is a new issue but thinkabout it, most mothers will raise there sons telling them not to take shit from nobody and to only worry about themselves as a protective, these men grow up with a trust nobody mentallity. These women treat there sons the same way a simp raises his daughter with no fault for the right things, and spoiled in the areas that they should be strong in. Worry about doing good and you don't owe nobody shit.

I think a lot of this shit has to do with the integration philosophy of the civil rights movement. Integration taught that blacks were successful only when they got assimilaited into white society. And to hell with black unity.
