I looked up the word 'passion' in the dictionary, I saw Corelli's face. What a performance.

colora 40 I can`t understand you when you say that Alagna wreced his voice long time ago.Maybe you can`t read but he is still geting best criticism from new prodactions. How many has done it after 25 years on stage.Nobody has never get so much genuin feelings, not these old tenors who spot out the words as Corelli. No feelings at all, feelings is not to shout.Sorry.

@colora40 Alagna wrecked his voice early on in his career. He started out as a meteor and flamed out way too soon. Pity. He is not yet 50 yrs, but we don't hear of him at all lately. He could have ranked with the best, but alas, bad habits did him in.

@paddaman1 I studied with Corelli and his voice is Italian and would have been wasted in German rep. His style is passion in abundance. He knew what was best. He did not like German music and did not understand it really. He is the singer of the middle of the last century, and no one is likely to hear that kind of passion today. It scares conductors when they have to follow a singer who is prone to showing off his voice, which is what made Corelli so thrilling.

Corelli at his 'worst" was better than today's tenors at their "best." "How grateful I am for his recordings and videos. He will llive forever!

Bravo
Corelli is a madman with a voice pouring directly from his heart down a magisterially created technical apparatus. He perfected his technique so his heart could sing, and sing it does.
Mammoth emotion! Plangent resonance!
A deity!
He is THE tenor of the second half of the 20th Century. No doubt. I just wish he would have done at least 1 Siegfried.
Just one!
His Huguenots recordings show how thrilling he would have been!

I would prefer to listen Corelli at the age of 101, than Alagna is any age. Alagna makes me tired. Franco elecrtryfies me.
