somewhere in that 20 years of peace your talking about was an 8 year war with Iran that bankrupted the country almost and promted his invasion of Kuwait in 91. Not to mention his using nerve and mustard gas on the Kurds of his own country for around 3 years because he felt they were a threat to his power. duh

saddam used violent pacification keep the "peace." the u.s. got rid of an asshole. you'd shit your pants if you had to live under saddam and his two maniac sons.
