Glenn Beck's Social Darwinist Manifesto delivered before CPAC 2010 Part 1

TV and radio commentator Glenn Beck delivered before the Conservative Political Action Committee a keynote address where he describes the Social Darwinist plan of action of his movement. This provides the most important excerpts. He quickly identifies the enemy as Progressivism that must be excised like a cancer and accuses many Republicans of carrying this "disease". Thus, he sets up Progressivism as the cause of Republican failures and also sets himself up as being outside the major parties. At one point, though not in this selection, he claims that Liberals and Progressives are the same thing and that they changed their name because the People hate them so much and even claimed that Liberals, Progressives and Communists were the same. Eugene Debs and socialist labour leaders imprisoned under Woodrow Wilson's Red Scare would have begged to differ and this attack on socialism by this ostensibly progressive Wilson ceded the non-interventionist ground to the Right that took over, set up the deflationary so-called Depression of 1920 and a new order where workers' rights were severely diminished.

Later, Beck claims that the conservatives and moderates were being enslaved by the tyrrany of the 20% liberal minority, claimed that the liberals are better at propaganda and then gave some kind of minstrel impersonation without the blackface. He thus played the conservatives are victims card. All of this leads to the most important part of the speech...

Earlier on he described himself as a "recovering alcoholic" who messed up his life... he returns this theme. He describes himself as someone who hit rock bottom who through the power of his will with no help of all was able to gain the wherewithal to build himself into the multi-millionaire he is now. The key, he said, was suffering, pain and being alone with no help at all. He was cast into the Darwinian jungle about to be devoured but he mustered the strength to prove to the world that he is all right, that he is worthy of life and prosperity and a decent life.
