I would like to thank DEC & all those people who came forward to do something positive & constructive from the UK as well as the local people of Pakistan. Has there ever been a major humanitarian disaster in the past where there has been a negative counter campaign (symbolised by comments along the lines of Shmuck) waged dissuading people not to be charitable? It seams there are some people out there with a perverse agenda. Such people only belittle themselves - sad, but nevermind

I might get more worked up about this if THEIR government wasn't working WITH Al-Qaeda to undermine the 'peace process' in Afghanistan & India, This puts OUR servicepeople at higher risk and I say let them help themselves and STOP working against us. When THEIR gov't. cares about them, well, then I'll start caring, too.
This is a humanitarian appeal on behalf of the flood affected people of Pakistan. This kind of aid is not given or withheld to punish or reward governments but because it is needed by ordinary people affected by a disaster. The perceived failure or inability of a government to provide adequate levels of this kind of help is an argument for international assistance, not inaction.
