Peter de Rose(1900-1950) was a prolific songwriter, composer, pianist, and author. Deep Purple is his most famous composition - it started as a piano solo, beautiful lyrics added later to become a hit song and a jazz standard. Among the many singers who recorded this song is the duo Donnie and Marie Osmond who sang it with a modern rock beat.

My mother used to play this. She was born in 1921 and died in 2003. She played it almost exactly like Mr Coloma does. She studied piano her whole life and this was her favorite next to Bach three part inventions and Chopin preludes. She studied piano in ioncinnati from Miss Beyard and attended Miss doherty's Preparatory school for Girls. I miss her a lot. Thanks for playing this beautiful piec of music.
