i guess they are. Cargo companies still use them for sure, but im pretty sure the DC-10 United that lands over my house everyday is probably really rare and one of the last ones that will be in service as a passenger plane in the US

Damnit. This is NOT a DEBATE. I'm TELLING you. United does NOT currently have any DC10's. They were RETIRED in the year 2001.
Just GOOGLE 'United fleet' and go to their website. They say themselves they retired it.
