to skeptic below - these are significant artifacts, like artifacts left by other migrations, such as Cherokees & other North & Latin American indigenous tribes - this kind of archeaology needs to be defended as much as any conducted in Peru or Egypt. material culture leaves traces that discerning eyes can see, students are taught how to decipher & pursue evidence - the lesson is in decoding, & reconstruction of history, & this is of value to more than one community.
congratulations Dr. De Leon.

Call me a jerk but I dont see how this is anthropology. Mexican shoes and backpacks doesnt seem like somthing anyone would want to see in a museum...there not old...and they have no value...and also how do you know what there story is? A boot with a hole in it..that boot could of got a hole after the fact how to you know it was a small child? was there a note in it..? It could have been anything.. but to me i see it as junk.. but good luck

WOW.. this is an amazing project this students have in their hands... It is something I will definately will love to participate and help. Crazy to say that every single item they find have a dream story to tell, that maybe became true or it stayed stuck in the hot dessert. Good Luck to Jason and his project.
