There is something Terry started doing in the last few years in this song (you can hear it at 0.44 secs, 1.35 secs and 2.26 secs) that wasn't in the original, and that really makes the song stand out for me more than it used to. You could hear it really well in concert when Terry played. Thanks for posting this video - it is one of the few you can hear it in.

As a Teen in the 70's I used to see Gordon on Canadian TV quite often while at our cottage in the 1000 islands. Loved him then and now!!!

One of my favourite Lightfoot songs. I've seen him in concert 3 times, and at one of them he mentioned that he had written this song in a hotel room, in a big city in the U.S., on a hot night in the middle of summer. The original 'where-wouldI-rather-be-song'. Love it. He is touring in the States right now, but is coming back to Canada next Spring & Summer: Brockville, Ontario, May 21, 2011 at the hockey rink. Even if I have to walk, I'll be there.

My husb & I were at the concert on Nov 20, 2009 - absolutely wonderful. What may have been lost to age in strength of voice has been more than compensated for by the nuances in interpretation. Drove all the way from MA to see this concert & it was worth every mile!

Great song. This video reminds me of seeing him in concert. He's a great songwriter and I'm glad I've gotten to enjoy him for so many years.
