The Marvelettes Sing was released in April 1962 "Twistin' Postman" was the only single from the LP, it was issued with 2 different covers and on the liners notes the only mention Gladys, Kathrine, Juanita and Georgeanna, they dont mention Wanda at all and she does most of the leads on the album

  • She told me she didnt, Motown wanted her to start doing leads by the late 60's but Wanda didnt like that idea, from what i heard she kinda got a David Ruffin complex and thought she was the voice of The Marvelettes

  • A friend of mine just gave it to me

  • The Black One or the M cover

  • Katherines soprano is strong here and can be heard prominately in the background.

  • i have this lp only .....scored for $125.00 years back.....some cover damage....actually "M" cover was first and MOre rare your rare valuable collection amazes me!

  • This song was originally a hit for Elvis Presley in 1962.

  • I love this song.......I have the "Forever" cd set, so i can hear this on CD ........

  • By 1964, The Marvelettes faced major competition, not only from Motown upstarts like The Supremes and Martha and the Vandellas, They refused to record a song titled "Where Did Our Love Go", written by the Holland-Dozier-Holland songwriting team. Instead, The Marvelettes chose to record "Too Many Fish In The Sea" which resulted in a minor hit. Meanwhile, Holland-Dozier-Holland took "Where Did Our Love Go?" to The Supremes, who made the song a #1 pop and R&B hit..and the rest is history

  • Thats Clarence Paul(Motown writer & producer) singing with them on this.Mickey Stevenson is on "Slow Twistin'" on the same LP.

  • hiya could you make a video of the marvelettes Mashed Potato Time?

    thanks.

  • i was thrilled to see the jacket of this album!! one of the ones that slipped by me in the 60's. hearing just one cut was great! but what a tease!! i want to hear the whole thing!! i keep hoping that one day they will reissue this album (as well as their live album!) on cd. it continues to be a mystery why the marvelettes remains one of the few motown acts not to be inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame!!! truly an underappreciated girl group of the 60's!! thanks for your postings!!!

  • Did Kat ever lead a song on record?
