Hyundai Santa Fe V6 2.7 Delta LPG
(mileage approx. 150000 miles)
No accident

Maybe subframes located inside rusted, too.
If you have a HYON-DAI car in North America, your car will become like my car no more than 10 years, even without calcium chloride. Undercoating is totally useless for HYON-DAI cars.

Many Santa Fe's in South Korea have similar problem due to defective spot welding for connecting inner and outer panels. Also, steel-plate itself could be defective.

Good luck for all HYON-DAI owners, kkkkkk.

  • i wonder this is expensive car { 48052.63 $ in europe } shouldn't rust so easy / i own small town car hyundai getz brand new but watching the old ones i never seen them rust \ truly i wonder

    must be the salt ?!

  • Some cars developed in 1998-2000 have similar problem. e.g. EF Sonata, Trajet, Santa Fe. They shares same platform.

Especially this problem comes out in South Korea, since Hyundai didn't use Zinc-galvanized Steel plate in cars sold in South Korea. If Zinc-galvanized steel is used, corrosion progresses more slowly.

  • I had also owned Hyundai Getz (Korean name, Click) before. Corrosion in Getz is not severe as Santa Fe. You don't have to worry.

  • strange not so old car

  • So many strange cars in South Korea

  • That looks pretty terminal to me, was it parked in a salt bath...its not that stylish or

full of carisma so i would get rid...

  • I have a 10 year old Alfa Romeo, its fully galvanised and i've had it 5 years and no rust anywhere, paint still looks new after its 6 monthly polish up, and under the arch liners its is just grey primer and again completely rust free, something is wrong, aren't Italian cars meant to fall to bits after a few years?, that Hyundai is quite a shocker especially as asian cars are percieved as problem free and long

    lasting.

  • That is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo weird

  • I own a 1989 dodge caravan i been parking it in the streets of New York City for 20 years and my minivan has no rust at all, I mean no were. This comes to show that they dont make cars like they use to. This Hyundai Santa looks like they made it out of soda can bottle. Is all Hyundai made like this? Wow rusty.

  • l.o.l. that car don't need a bodyshop for repair ...? it needs to go to sloan ketering cancer hospital :P for cancer removal!!! what a rust bucket !
