From the spring of 1990, the new tower wasn't up yet, so WRAL had more time to create a more interesting ID than the still one they made when the tower crashed. It's the only time I can recall the announcer saying "Raleigh Fayetteville Durham" instead of "Raleigh Durham Fayetteville."

  • @raedizzle2009 Stations change all the time I remember when KRBC and KACB in San Angelo used the same channel and the same affiliate when I was a kid until later on when they split.

  • I remember seeing this from 1990, just after the old WRAL tower came crashing down due to a major ice storm just before the new year. WKFT was at the time in financial difficulty, and they generously agreed to surrender their indie-lineup to broadcast WRAL's CBS shows until the latter had a new tower in late '90. WPTF (now WRDC MNTV 28) also used the WRAL tower, and had their then-NBC lineup aired on channel 62 in Fayetteville and on a smaller tower for the Triangle until new tower was done.
