@citydriver Do you think that Ford or GM or anybody that makes engines run there engine for 30 mins. to a hr. to break it in. Hell no. The cam people want you to do this. Big lift cams and big valve springs might need a little break in because dumn ass people use a thin oil with no zink in it. I am 64 years old and been a mechanic all my life. I have built a thousand engine in my day and never had a cam lobe or lifter wear off premature. Use good quality parts set it up right, use the right oil

@Blago6actual actually, have you ever heard of glyptal? used to seal the inside of an engine for several reasons, one being so that sand and other debris from the casting of the block doesn't get into the oil supply...

how exactly do the valve stems receive lubrication.. I have never understood this. I know these old fe engines used an umbrella type seal, but the stems and guides must need some lubrication
-
those are some looooong ass pushrods
-
what RPM do you think you where at?
-
I dont understand what that machine is suppose to do, or what does it prove?
-
You won't find paint on the inside of anyone's engines except for high school kids.

sounds like a heart beat

@kennethrobinson11231 ii dont realy understand what your getting at all i said was i wished that the local machine shop had a sim tester for break in

Good way to wash all the assembly lube off the parts, probably not the best for the cam. I think someone posted before the best way to break-in an engine (flat tappet cam) is to run it at 1500-2000 rpm, that slings more oil around.
hey, i am in auto shop, in high school and am working on rebuilding a for 360, though from what the block looks like, its going to end up at least some what bigger than a 360.
i am in fallbrook, how much would the machining be on it?
