@sofaguard I lived two cottages down the road from Ronnie Barker in a small village in Oxfordshire in the early 1980's. I owe him a hude debt personally. Derek and Clive made me laugh more than anything before or since and I am a professional comedy writer with top credits to my name and 2500 appearances in 17 countries as experience. I am a good judge. Their relaionship foundered - comedy's 'Spinal Tap'. So what? The comedy is genius and inspired hundreds. Interesting on a callow voyeuristic level to look at the fractures. The work stands and I am sorry to hear that Cook regretted it later. Cook is comedy's Orson Welles - burnt out young.

Typical sour and actually rather prurient Channel 4 documentary technique to harp on about the dis-harmony between two very talented people. The people who made patronising documentary have never been in something really creative because they would know that conflict is part of the process very often. Working in TV is way down the bottom of end of anything that could be called creative. They said fuck a lot, so bloody what.
