I got 6.8 with a stopwatch from when I heard stuff rattle in the car when you dumped the brakes to when the needle hit 60 mph. Still good tho. Anything in the 6 second range is good in AZ, especially in the summer. I would like to race your car sometime just for fun. I drive an old Mustang 5.0 and I live up in north Glendale, up on Happy Valley road. Let me know if you want to race sometime.

Thanks but I live in Mesa, and seldom get to that part of town. Right now both of my cars need turbos (they smoke real bad) and can only pull 10 lbs of boost. When they were fast I ran 14.5lbs of boost. That's roughly 30hp.

But I'll keep you in mind I'm building a Motor for the T5R that depending on boost level should make an easy 350hp. Then I'll just have to buy a bunch of transmissions because they are only good for 300hp. But I let you know.

Did you "take off" in 2nd gear?

No I started in first I just had the shifter in the "L" spot which holds it in that gear until I shift it. I do this because if it starts spinning the tires it will shift into second prematurely causing a bad run.

I don't understand why volvo gets this reputation that it does, I mean has anyone ever road in one!? They are twice as fast as your ass even from factory. When I was shopping for mine, I test road with the owner of one, who was honestly a teeny bit crazy, but had a well taken care of '96 850 T5, and on this tiny backwoods stretch of road, he got that thing up to 80 no problem. He then took us up some swervy backroads and the thing handled like a race car.

the T5-R is underrated, much like the Lancer Evo and STi... wikipedia and do searches... 3200lbs isn't heavy for a car with 250+hp.. the Evo and STi are actually 3260lbs; nobody says those cars are heavy?? take out the spare, get a braille or another lightweight battery and take out the a/c pump and components and drop another 100lbs or so... dont sleep on a T5-R, especially a modded one

wikipedia boys... just like the Lancer Evo and the STi, the T5-R was totally underrated by Volvo. and if you'd like to lighten up the heavy 3200lb '250hp' you can take out the spare, get a braille or another lightweight battery, and take out the a/c pump and components and shed another 100lbs!  the T5-R was, is, and always will be the first and only TRUE "R" car Volvo ever made..

guys guys guys... the 850 T5-R is the first and last TRUE "R" car... nooo, the 850R is not more powerful. wikipedia the 850 and look under the "T5-R" section... you're relying completely on manufacturer's specs... is a Lancer EVO really only 270hp with near identical 0-60 + 1/4mi times as an STi which is 300hp with IDENTICAL weights?? the T5-R was underrated.. it's even quicker with the spare taken out, a braille lightweight battery, and the a/c pump and components removed..
