We did actually release one in the forums. If you search for creating a ram cache you find some of the fourms online where we released a step by step process on how to do this. Thanks for the view.

@asusrog jj what's the limitations on size for the ram cache and when dose the scaling start losing effect eg 8gb vs 10gb chache? And is it possible to set up 2 ram caches in one system ie C: drive and D: drive?

There is no limit you can define what you feel is your requirement ( up to the current max of memory on X79 which is 64GB ).

In regards to the scaling this varies depending on the applications you are using and how much control you have over defining how the cache is performed ( for reads and writes ) all these affect performance. Additionally depending on the type of applications or content or games being used on the system you will have varying level of performance based on the cache.

Additionally you can create multiple caches for different drives. Although if you are looking to create a RamDisk this is different than a RamCache.

This depends on whether the application support persistent image support ( applications like FancyCache or software from companies like Raxco support this option so you can maintain your RamDisk ) In regards to a RamCache generally this will be persistent so not sure why you are losing it after a period of time.

Calling this a unique feature of the ASUS X79 is false advertising. This is a feature "exclusive" to any system with memory.

Thanks for posting this. I know have justifiable cause for plugging 32GB of RAM into my new Rampage IV Gene :) Enjoy all your vids as usual, thanks JJ. Also, for others, search "ramcache asus x79" and you'll hit the proper link to the ROG forums.

At Piixel PC, you should be able to. In fact, you should be able to plug in 64GB of that memory in but keep in mind the more memory modules you plug in, the harder it will be run them all at their rated speed.

The increased performance when using the ram disk is interesting. But how do you configure that?

What happens when you are using SSD caching and your SSD crashes? Is there risk of data loss? Is recovery just a matter of replacing the SSD drive or do you have to replace it and then restore all data from a backup?
