Geddy Friedman - Sherman Oaks, CA Guitar Center Drum Off 9/20/11

Performing as an "Alternate Contestant" at the Guitar Center in Sherman Oaks, CA. Although I'll be first to admit this was completely unrehearsed and not even close to my best, I honestly feel I still I had better speed, power, and stick control than everyone else there that night, including the two winners selected. I also had the most unique performance overall. And I was the only one "holding the sticks right" as Buddy Rich would say. Too bad I didn't have what the judges there that night were looking for...

And yes, the British announcer dude told the crowd I looked like Johnny Depp well before the competition started.

I've been playing (overstatement..) the drums for fun for about 2 years now, so I know a tiny bit about drumming and that was quite good, mate!

I actually live near that Guitar Center, if you're in the vicinity too we should go put up Ron Paul signs around Burbank/NoHo sometime.

a bit too scatterbrain for my liking, theres potential there but obviously the judges see what we see. Keep up the drumming :) but dont try so hard, peace bro

@krang0117 And what do you see? This unrehearsed solo had more form than ANY of the random playing that night. Guitar Center Drum Offs are notorious for whimsical solos by almost everyone. At least mine had some structure, which I believe in as a principle.
