  • How hypocritical of the creator of this propaganda to play the "race card" ( a racists' favorite phrase) to deflect the fact that most racists in America are overwhelmingly conservative, and therefore, members of the Republican party. This video was not made because of outrage about the KKK's actions, it was made to falsely attach racism to the Democratic party. They aren't innocent or without fault either, but anyone can see through this propagandist B.S.

  • And I still find it unusual Byrd is still a Democrat. Most other Democratic Klansmen became Republicans.

Whatever. Byrd never committed any acts of terrorism, and he absolutely did not achieve his power through terrorism. Your accusations are based not on crime, but rather on association to criminals.

  • @nafaidni You really should listen to yourself once in a while. Name one Democrat clansman that became a republican. Oh, you can't because you just make blanket statements with no basis in actual facts. You should just admit, "I nafaidni do not care if a senator was/is a clansman as long as he will vote with my liberal political ideology." That is the truth. But you are right about one thing, I know of no actual crime committed by Byrd. Mere association with criminals makes a "leader" unfit.

  • There is no evidence to believe that conservatives and republicans would fight for black equality today. It is wrong to say that todays republican party stands with minorities. They label minorities as criminals, vagabonds, and welfare recipients which is extremely racist even by their standards. I think republicans are trying to sugar coat what they stand for now because its so blantantly obivious. The deep south does not vote republican because of civil rights.

It is a saying that says" you are like the five people you associate yourself with the most".

The US senator Robert Bryd has been confirmed as an Ex-Klansman and was that for long as you and I been alive. It was the Democrats during the civil war that wanted slavery to continue and was not the first black politicians Republicans during the civil war and antislavery age? Please confirm the name or names of any republican that is a KNOWN or has been a known Klansman. Klansman can not denounce their standings or else they wouldn't be. What about the civil rights movement?

  • Robert Byrd is a KKK and died a KKK, he's not for you me or anyone else cept for Democrats and do whatever it takes to stay in power... plz people look LOOK at what they want ... they want to stay in power, by dumbing down the low class keeping them on welfare and in sec 8 housing ... they want to keep giving to you cuz they get votes from you and say "MAN THOSE DEMOCRATS ARE AWSOME IM GETTING ALL THIS FOR FREE" ... wake up people and look at whats happening "Democrats are the true KKK" lookitup

  • Your overall point is a valid one, but you don't need to lie in order to make it. Firstly you misquoted him. Secondly, he apologized immediately.

  • @nafaidni "Most other Democratic Klansmen became Republicans."

Bull! Very few left to become republicans over 90% of the democrats who opposed civil rights stayed dems for life. Now if you want to claim that the democrats switched from racists to race baiters then I might agree.

  • @nafaidni Byrd was a klan recruiter when he was in his 20's he filibustered the civil rights act of 64 when he was in his 40's and used the N word on national tv in 2001. The dude was a racist his entire life. He was just another typical racist democrat.

I do think there is debate on his true meaning. One, Trent was a kid when Thurmond ran for president. Two, Thurmond’s position on race was hazy, and it’s probable that Trent wasn’t even thinking about Strom’s opposition to federally enforced desegregation, just as it is probable that he was. He also could have been just saying a nice thing to a retiring man. We don’t know what was going through Tent’s head when he said it. Not to imply that I support what Lott said or did.
