Hsieh's opening remarks about Paul are obviously based more on her personal feelings and less on an impartial examination of his policies

Agreed. But you begin to lose the legal argument when you classify abortion as an "act of violence". There is obviously much disagreement over this. Perhaps in the interest of seeing it returned to the states, abortion should be categorized with other personal behaviors that states have decided to regulate in order to maintain peace in their individual societies, such as drugs, prostitution, gambling, etc. If abortion is a individual rights issue, why not those others?

Oh...btw....in case you didn't get the memo....Ron Paul is running under the Republican ticket.
-
Couldn't disagree more!!!

@climbsolo What a stupid statement; politics is a BRANCH of philosophy. Name one political principle that isn't philosophical.
-
I'm confused as to where Paul has ever proposed anti-abortion legislation at the federal level? Paul supports legislation that would remove the issue of abortion entirely from the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, thus repealing Roe v Wade, but that is not anti-abortion - it's returning to the states their jurisdiction over an act of violence. States deal with all acts of violence, not the federal government.
-
Paul proposes removing federal mandates on the states that say illegal immigrants must be given access to free education and social welfare programs. Paul's proposal to protect these programs does not affect his immigration policy proposals.
-
Paul's plan block grants Medicare funding to the states.
@climbsolo What do you think politics is? It is applied philosophy.
