http://www.123rc.net - Today I'd like to start the blog'n'show of My Hangar, and the planes that you definately should consider as a beginner to RC Flying.

This plane is the Multiplex Mentor, an Elapor high wing trainer, designed for people like me who are just getting started and learning with RC flying.

I purchased this one back in Feb 2010 from modelspot.com, got free delivery and had it ready to fly within 3 days of glueing things and sticking all the transfers on it after spending 2 hours cutting them all out.

I took it up to the flying club one afternoon to test out the power with it and found that this radio ready model, out of the box, with a 5000mah FlightTech battery on it was putting out 440watts of power total, with an all-up-weight of just under 2KG, and I'm getting 10,000rpm from the default Hi-Max motor at full throttle.

It comes with an APC 11x5.5 propellor, motor, speed controller and servo's all pre-installed, all you need to do is fit the undercarraige, glue the tail together and tail wheel, then stick all the decals on it and put a receiver/battery in and your done.

Next up, flying with the mentor and some vid's I shot of training flights with it over the spring months.

  • @StonyRC Hiya StonyRC... No, sadly, emulsion cracks and flakes off fairly quickly. See my other Mentor vid's, I ended up having to strip off all the emulsion, then covered it with fibretape, and coloured tape over that... Have you been over to our website 123rc.net ? come and say hello..

  • Hi Mate, very interested in hearing whether the household emulsion has faired well on the Elapor foam. Any sign of it peeling or chipping off? Cheers.

  • @E744763Productions Thanks mate but we have no water suitable to fly from around here, unless I take it to the local sewage works LOL

  • Looking good! You should get the floats for it...hehe more fun. Looking forward to more of your hanger!
