I believe the characters are an influence of the writer/artists/who ever made this toons home life as a child

See how the loc ness monster insults the Cia agent [who failed at joining the CIA divsion] then gets protected by bigfoot.

Subtle: the farther yelling at the son the mother comes over to help and the main character is stuck in the middle trying to keep the piece between the two.
