The third movement from the only flute sonata ("Sonata a Travers. e Basso") to be found in Handel's autograph, dating from around 1720. David Lasocki and Terence Best have suggested that Handel may have put together this sonata for the woodwind virtuoso Christian Kytch, who is known to have given a performance in London on Feb. 23,1720, featuring a solo for traverso.
