I didn't even know Britney did a cover of this....so no, not everyone connects this song with her obviously. You also can't compare sales from the 80's to now 1) because money had a lot more value back then 2) because people have the internet now and it's way easier to buy and download a song as well as track the sales. But for the record Britney was just a 1-hit wonder that is still desperately clinging to fame...she never had any talent.
