Brian Hayes TD, Fine Gael spokesperson on Education, speaks to FGTV about the problems facing Protestant schools and communities since the withdrawal of the Ancillary grant. Deputy Hayes said "I am appealing to the Minister for Education to back down on this issue and to stop the inevitable collision course that he has set for himself between his Department and the various Protestant churches. From the start, he has got this issue entirely wrong. It is incumbent upon him as Minister to restore the previous funding arrangements that applied to the 21 post-primary schools in this country."
@jamesnp Irish Protestants are the true Irish in my mind as they have achieved so much in Politics,Economics,Science & the Arts in Ireland. They have contributed more to Irish History & Irish Culture.

@jamesnp The Catholic Church still holds a lot of power in Ireland because they own a lot of property in Ireland so they still have a lot of power. The Irish people need to move on from religion and become more secular in thinking.

Hear, hear! Religious bigotry is alive and well in Ireland; but, we knew that already. Glad to see Fine Gael is standing up for us Irish protestants.
