shaking is caused by low fluid in the pump tank and or dry rail cans they have oil cans that let a little out at a time to keep the side rails coated with oil if it dries up it can cause the shaking you felt
-
Yep, they built the first oil-hydraulic elevator in the 1930s.

WE ARE THE BORG.
YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED.
RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
Seriously, for a Dover company to get bought out by another corporation requires them to be *enormous*. Any bets on how long it'll take before one of the other elevator companies gets Borged by Tyco or something?

Indeed, you can't blame the quality of Dover manufacturing, their hydraulics were some of the best in the buisness. Even the best elevator will fall into disrepair with poor maintenance. Remember, even though Dover installed the unit, the property owner is free to choose any service provider to provide maintenance for the elevator. It is their responsibility it keep in in proper operating condition.

I dunno... 1980s Dovers seem to be built better than the more modern ones. I HATE the way the new ThyssenKrapp ones are built!
