There are three main branches of mathematics: arithmetic, geometry and algebra. This is the correct order, both in terms of importance and of historical development. Here we introduce our program for setting out foundations of algebra.

This video belongs to Wildberger's MathFoundations series, which sets out a coherent and logical framework for modern mathematics.

  • @Pebbe496 think of how you snore. that's how you say kh in arabic.

  • On the pronunciation: The KH is usually spoken like German ch (like in Bach) or Scottish (like in loch) or Spanish j. You don't have that sound in English. In IPA, it's [x]. Also, it should be Khwārizmī without the o, at least that's how I always have seen it. But I don't know Arabic, so this could all be wrong.

The word Algorithm comes from Al-Khwārizmī.
