He is definitely one of the originatars of the Rock and Roll music we are most associated with, not the R & B that was popular at that time (people were originally calling that Rock and Roll).

Often underestimated giant of rock. He got there before most other white guys. Many other rockers, including the Beatles owe a lot to him.
